Cherry

Move Aside – It’s Time For Me to Shine Cherry

You’ve heard of the middle child syndrome. Nobody was paying attention anyway so why not grab some extra cookies. The older sibling is already the smart one, the younger sibling is already the outgoing one, so the pressure is off. At times quietly rebellious, they are the first in line to get the tattoo. When all they needed was the pedestal to be uncritically admired, adored and appreciated. When actually all they needed was time. Lesson learned.

This middle child is cherry, a species long worthy of appreciation, now a highly sought after hardwood by woodworkers and wood lovers alike.

With its smooth, closed grain that resembles maple wood and natural darkening process, cherry wood furniture and flooring has a unique life of its own. One that clearly is going to stay out past curfew and to hell with the consequences. The color and appearance of cherry wood can vary greatly between different trees and get this…even when it’s from the same family tree. Go figure.
